Yoga means ‘union’ of the mind, body and spirit. Through experiential learning, students will study and practice ancient teachings to bring about personal transformation, as well as gain the knowledge and skills to effectively teach yoga classes and workshops to diverse groups.

The 250-hour teacher-training program is a six-month part-time education program to meet the growing demand for highly qualified yoga teachers in British Columbia, and around the world. The purpose of this program is to provide multidisciplinary training in various aspects of classic and contemporary yogic studies including asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation to yogic history, philosophy, psychology and theory. This teacher-training program is under the lineage of traditional Raj/Hatha Yoga.

This program reflects the broad spectrum of Yoga as a complete spiritual and holistic tradition and will provide on-going mentorship and supervision for students as they move through the curriculum. It is designed to bring post-secondary education and professional training to a rapidly expanding yoga industry.

Specific Program goals include:

  1. Provide integrative program work that combines theory and practice.
  2. Offer multidisciplinary studies so that students can gain a solid understanding of classical and contemporary approaches to Yoga.
  3. Prepare highly skilled, competent and professional yoga teachers who are trained in all aspects of the yogic path.
  4. Provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for personal growth, healing, and self-transformation.
  5. Offer advanced studies and training to provide teachers with the knowledge and foundation to teach yoga classes.
  6. Meet internationally recognized professional and business standards for yoga teachers.
