Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Wellness Spa Practitioner Certificate Program students will be able to present themselves as a professional wellness spa practitioner. They will have theoretical and practical knowledge related to basic to advanced spa treatments. Students will qualify for a certificate in Thai Massage, Healing Touch Levels I and II and British Columbia Registered Aroma therapist designation. Should they opt to students would be eligible to apply certain credits to completing a Registered Massage Therapist designation at certain schools in British Columbia.
At the conclusion of this program students will be able to:
- Evaluate today’s spa environment in light of historical perspectives of spa treatment
- Demonstrate excellence in the professional skills of a Wellness Spa Practitioner
- Demonstrate skills consistent with a Thai Massage Practitioner
- Earn a certificate in Thai Massage
- Demonstrate skills consistent with a Registered Aromatherapist in British Columbia
- Earn a Registered Aromatherapist licence in British Columbia
- Demonstrate the skills of Healing Touch Level I and Level II
- Earn Healing Touch Level I and Level II
- Demonstrate skills for basic to advanced Hydrotherapy
- Demonstrate skills for basic to advanced therapeutic spa treatments
- Earn credits towards a Registered Massage Therapy designation
- Evaluate Ayurvedic traditions for spa therapy
- Evaluate current trends in spa diet and herbal practices
- Evaluate spa clients’ risk factors related to medication intake
- Demonstrate and integrate skills for self care into one’s life
