Wellness Spa Practitioner Certificate Program
Program of Study
This certificate extended weekend program offers 1284 hours of theory, 148 hours of clinical practice and 320 hours of clinical practicum It is designed for individuals who wish to pursue a career in an industry that is expanding and changing as well as for those seeking continuing education for their current position within the industry. Each student must perform and document 100 treatments prior to graduation from this certificate program. Of these 100 treatments, 75 must be supervised by faculty at the scheduled clinics . Students will complete a 2 month practicum (320 hours) in a spa setting at the conclusion of this program. International Practicum is available for students wishing to travel to other parts of the world. Prior to graduation students must complete a major paper relating to the healing aspects of one the treatments that were learned in the program.
At the conclusion of the program students will have earned some credit towards completing a Registered Massage Therapist credential at Spa Utopia Academy or Okanagan School of Massage Therapy. Students will also be eligible to write the Registered Aromatherapist licensure exam in British Columbia. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate in Thai Massage and will have earned credit towards a certified healing touch practitioner designation. Upon graduation, students will receive a Certificate in Wellness Spa Practitioner and will be competitive for employment at one of the luxury spa locations in Vancouver.
