Faculty and Guest Teachers

Ofir Gabay MA, is an Expressive Arts Therapist and educator. He is the cofounder and coordinator of the Expressive Arts Therapy Certificate Program at Langara College as well as of the Expressive Arts Therapy Studio, where he provides individual and group therapy and education. Ofir specializes in the Intermodal approach, integrating imaginative and artistic modalities into therapeutic practice.

Peta Schur BA, D.T.A.T.I. is a clinical Art Therapist, supervisor, and teacher. She has extensive experience working with adults, children, and families in social services and in her private practice. She is co-founder of the Expressive Arts Therapy Certificate Program at Langara College as well as of the Expressive Arts Therapy Studio and has taught counselling and art therapy at various educational institutions. Her work is collaborative and rooted in imaginative process.

David MacMurray Smith, BA, is an independent educator who combines over 30 years of experience in the areas of Theatre, Dance, Opera, Mime, Clown, and many years of personal study in psychology into unique, creative studies in human performance.
He has taught at numerous universities and founded the Fantastic Space Enterprises studio in 1995, where the focus of the work is on expanding dimensions in self knowledge and communication.

Katharine Carol B.F.A., M.A., R.A.T., is a Registered Drama and Movement Therapist experienced working with family violence, sexual abuse, disordered eating, youth and children at risk and family of origin work. She has worked with Burnaby Family Life Institute as a sexual abuse Therapist as well as in a variety of other clinical and educational settings. She currently works in private practice using drama, movement, myth and story to encourage imaginative exploration to bring about psychological transformation.

Heather Dawson MA is a Registered Art Therapist and a graduate student in Expressive Therapies at the European Graduate School. She has extensive experience working with adults, children, and families in a range of clinical settings. Heather is a long term instructor at the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute and a clinical supervisor for agencies in the Lower Mainland. She has completed training in the Hakomi Method of body centered psychotherapy and combines this approach with her work in the Expressive Therapies.

Fran Harwood M.A.Clin.Psych., O.S.P., I.E.A.T.A., A.T.S., has been a psychotherapist specializing in Trauma and the Expressive Arts, for over 30 years. She was a cofounder and faculty of ISIS Canada Training Program and also co-creator and faculty of Body and Soul Energy Healing Training Program. She is currently teaching at The Creative Healers Institute and works in private practice in Toronto. Fran’s personal creativity is in the visual arts, clay and writing.

Sunita Romeder M.A. is a Dance/Movement Therapist and certified Breema Instructor. She has been practicing, promoting and teaching Dance Therapy for individuals and groups in her private practice and for many organizations, since 1982. She is the founder and director of SEAD - Self Expression and Dance Therapy Center.
